Back from Mexico!

I'm baaaack!! Holy cow, what a honeymoon. I'll have you know there came a point, very early on actually, where Chris and I looked at each other and had absolutely no clue as to what day it was. Now that's a vacation! No laptop or iphone, just simply a camera to capture as many memories as possible. I will definitely be sharing some more with you (loads of turquoise in Mexico, it was amazing!), but this awesome house that we spotted while touring Isla Mujueres on a moped was one of my favorites. Imagine having THAT as your home, and the Caribbean in your back yard! *sigh*

As much as I loved two whole weeks of heart-stopping turquoise water, white sandy beaches, fabulous gourmet meals, yummy pina coladas and (most of all) the company of my new husband 24/7, it is indeed good to be home. :)

Guest Blogger: Chris "A Dream House For My Wife"

Greetings fellow turquoise lovers! This is Erin’s husband, Chris. I can’t help but smile every time I get to say that now! Imagine my surprise when Erin asked ME to be a guest blogger on House of Turquoise. Being my first time ever blogging I decided I would attempt to piece together Erin’s dream house using the awesome images she has shared throughout the years here on House of Turquoise. I will start with the exterior of the house. The above image many of you will recognize as Martha Stewart's home (it’s sad that I know this, but I’ve come to terms with that), and the element we will take from this is that turquoise trim and that weathered shingle exterior you can find most perfectly in the Hamptons. Erin would flip out to have a house like this! The next key to Erin’s dream home, a comfy outdoor space with a view of ever expanding turquoise waters like the one pictured below (more here.) I can just picture Erin sitting out on that dock in the chaise lounge with a pina colada in her hand!

Now lets move on to the interior; starting with Erin’s dream kitchen. If you’ve been following House of Turquoise closely, you should already know this one… An exact replica of the kitchen below (more here.)

On to her dream bathroom… We will take elements from three different images to piece together her bathroom. Starting with the shower below (that must be curtained by the flamenco shower curtain from anthropologie, Erin has wanted that since I met her). The keys to the shower; BIG, lots of showerheads, and dreamy turquoise glass tile. …And the icing on the cake for this bathroom? Her own cozy vanity space to sit down and do her hair and makeup!

Finally what dream house would be complete without a bedroom. And the keys to the bedroom, as pictured below; a turquoise tufted headboard and closet big enough to park a semi in! I’m pretty sure a closet of this magnitude and grandure would sell Erin on the house alone!

...and with that, I’d like to thank you all for reading! Also, thank you Erin for asking me to do this and for bringing turquoise to my life; hopefully one day I can give you your perfect home as a sign of my gratitude for everything you’ve done for me! Have a great day everyone!

Wedding Sneak Peek!

(courtesy Spencer Combs Photography)

My oh my, let me tell you how fabulous it is being married! The wedding day was such a roller coaster of emotions, but it ended so perfectly. It seriously was all just a dream come true, I could not wipe that smile off my face! I even got excited when snow started to fall to close down the party! I hoped you enjoyed these teaser images courtesy of my friend Holly and my Uncle Jerry!

I need to do some serious shout-outs to some incredible people who made the day so special! The gorgeous dresses were all made by my talented dressmaker step-mother, Diana Winget Olson. I felt absolutely, positively beautiful in mine, I just didn't want to take it off! The day-saving Brett Dorrian was responsible for all of our hair and makeup, and was a total angel to work with. The breathtaking arrangements were created by the ever-so-sweet and brilliant Ashley Fox Designs, who was a huge help to us the entire process. You can see a little bit of the pom-pom decorations...my friend Kim Yeager of Lark Nest Design was responsible for that! My stunning pearl necklace and earrings were designed by Jen of JWP Jewelry Designs and birdcage veil by Ann Leslie Designs. Sooo pretty. The service was held at the Lakewood Memorial Chapel (the mosaic is INCREDIBLE there!) and reception at Saint Anthony Main Event Centre, catered by 3 Sons Signature Cuisine. Best food ever, everyone agreed. They baked that amazing cake as well (it was super yummy too!) and Ashley decorated it with her flowers. LOVE it!!!

From the bottom of my heart, thanks to Claire, Katie, Emily, Jen and Kate...wow, did we ever have a drama-rama morning! Thanks for all you did for me! And to YOU guys, thanks again for all of your kind words the last several days, it means the world to us!! :)

I know there are so many more details (many turquoise!) to share with you guys, so once we get them back from our photographer, you'll see just how amazing the day really was! The decor was perfect, if I do say so myself! ;)

I'm going to have a busy week preparing for our honeymoon. We're off to an unbelievable resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico this weekend. Two full weeks of wedded bliss and turquoise waters....it doesn't get better than that!

Edit: Our incredible photographer Spencer Combs just sent us a teaser photo....breathtaking!! I had to add it to show you guys!

Engagement Photos!

Spring is finally here in Minnesota and I couldn't be happier! Meenal over at Maison Marigold had a wonderful collection of colorful images as an ode to spring that definitely got me in the mood! This outdoor space from Domino was my favorite. What a perfect place to chill!

On to engagement photos! We have a few hundred super cute pics to our name now and narrowing it down to a handful to share with you guys was hard! I have to admit that we were pretty nervous about taking them. Both Chris and I enjoy photography as a hobby, but being on the other side of the camera was not something we were looking forward to. However our amazing and uber-talented photographer Spencer Combs made us feel so comfortable and really captured our personalities. This is genuine happiness you see below people! As if it was even possible, after getting our pics back I was even MORE excited for our big day! Which happens to be ONE WEEK from today!

Happy weekend everyone!! :)

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Today's room from Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and photographed by Emily Minton Redfield, is dedicated to my handsome fiancĂ© who is celebrating his birthday!! In a perfect world, my rugged outdoorsman would live in the mountains as a hikemaster, residing (with moi, of course) in light-filled contemporary digs. This Aspen home designed Barbara Mullen of Caroline-Edwards Interior Design would be right up his alley. He's more neutral-happy than I am but readily admits to loving the turquoise. In fact I know he'd love those George Smith chairs...he's got a major thing for tufted furniture. But undoubtedly it's the view and the proximity of a scenic hike that would have him at hello! See more of this sleek, understated mountain home here! And a huge happy birthday to my FH, Chris! ♥

(taken last week at my bridal shower...isn't he cute?!)

Exciting News!!!

Ok so really I just want to tell you my big news, I can't wait much longer, but how awesome is this bed I found in the October issue of 25 Beautiful Homes?! To have an upholstered bed like that...what a dream!

Now my news! Last night I got engaged!!! I still can't believe it! The last 14 months of my life with Chris have been the best of my life. I never thought I'd meet anyone like him...a heart so filled with absolute kindness and enthusiasm. And so cute and smart too! I feel like the luckiest girl ever. Talk about a total surprise...never in a million years did I think that would happen, like it did, yesterday of all days. But it was perfect, so us. I'm so happy. So so so happy!!! And so so so excited!!!

Someone pinch me...I still can't believe it!!!

Key West & Hallmark

What I'd give to spend a weekend in this adorable Key West vacation home designed by Todd Richesin! Melissa of The Inspired Room posted several photos from the very cool home featured in Traditional Home, but it was the guesthouse and pool that stopped me in my tracks. It's picture-perfect in every way!
Thank you all for your super-supportive comments again regarding my time at Hallmark! The presentation went SO WELL. I couldn't have been more pleased with my first-ever speaking engagement! I think the success can be fully attributed to the fact that I was talking about my two favorite things: turquoise and blogging! You guys should have seen the reception afterward. They had turquoise cupcakes that were painstakingly made by Hallmarker Laura of the blog Oh For Heaven Cakes (I can't get over that name...too cute!) They tasted just as fantastic as they looked! Loved the yummy turquoise punch too, talk about perfect color! A giant thank you to Scott, Susan and Marita for their kindness and hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed every second with them! I had the fortune of meeting so many cool, creative people! I really dug the energy and creativity flowing through the halls of Hallmark, the inspiration everywhere was incredible. What a great experience!

For a recap of my presentation, including some more photos from the day, head over to the Dirty Laundry Blog! Jeanee is yet another cool Hallmarker with amazing talent! (You have to see the present she gave me, I promise you'll love it too!)
