Vacation Recap! (Long One!)

I know that was a ton of photos, in one VERY large image...my apologies if it forever to load! If there's one thing I'm good at, it's taking photos on vacation. "Hold on, I need to take a picture!" (right, Chris?) I hope the collage gave you a sampling of our short vacation out to the coast of Massachusetts! I'll try to recap to the best of my memory, so if any of you ever have the absolute pleasure of getting out that way you'll know what not to miss!

Thursday: Flight delays and lost luggage....but we successfully arrived in Providence late at night.

Friday (my birthday): Hit up the Bourne Scallop Festival in Buzzards Bay. Yum! Checked into the SeaCoast Inn in Hyannis, absolutely highly recommended. The owners were super duper nice and incredibly helpful, and our room was cute! Toured beloved Chatham, drooled over the incredible dream houses, then went up to Orleans and did more of the same. We ended up eating one fantastic dinner (complete with candle-topped cupcake) at Chatham Squire Restaurant. Oh and stopped for some fudge and candy at the Chatham Candy Manor. Yum!

Saturday (our anniversary): Drove to Woods Hole and took the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Rented a car (jeeps were sold out!) so we could see more of the island (more houses!). Ate a fab lunch at Among The Flowers Cafe in Edgartown. Stopped in fun shops and walked the streets, couldn't help but imagine we were a fisherman family back in the day! Drove all around the island...highlights being Gay Head, the adorable Victorian gingerbread cottages in Oak Bluffs, and the stone walls of the picturesque Chilmark countryside (that was our fav). Back to Edgartown where we ate dinner overlooking the harbor at the Seafood Shanty. Walked the quiet streets, at some delicious Mad Martha ice cream, then back to Hyannis all pooped out!

Sunday: Walked to the ferry station and took the high-speed (1 hr) ferry to Nantucket. I couldn't even handle how pretty everything was as we were coming in! Walked the cobblestone streets, visited some cute shops (awesome decor shops there!) and ate a late breakfast at Black-Eyed Susan's. Best pancakes ever! We decided to rent a moped so we could see more of the island (more houses!). It was such a good time. Made our way to Cisco Beach and watched the surfers, then over to our favorite part of the island: Sconset. The cutest little rose-covered shingled cottages I could ever have imagined, super fabulous shingled homes on the bluffs overlooking the ocean, the quaintest, cutest little village....I'm surprised we even managed leave. Made our way back to the town of Nantucket, returned the moped, walked around some more, then ate dinner at The Brotherhood of Thieves. Best chowder we've ever tasted! Super tired and with sore feet (shouldn't have worn my new flats), we then took the last ferry back to Hyannis.

Monday: Finally slept in, then took a leisurely drive to Newport, RI where we took in the impressive Newport Mansions. Insane stuff. Then spent our remaining time by the water taking in the incredible views of the Atlantic, not knowing when we'd see it next!

Phew! If you're still reading along, bless your hearts! :) I've wanted to see this area for as long as I can remember, and it was so much more than I imagined...I'm still so excited about it (if you can't tell.) Anyway, thanks for reading along and again for all your recommendations. We know it wouldn't have been such an amazing trip without all of your great suggestions! And with that, I hope your weekend is full of fun and sunshine where ever you are!

I'm Back!

What a dream the last few days were. Our trip to Mass. was fantastic! We were so surprised how big Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket were. Oh my goodness, the countryside!! That's what surprised us the most. Of course it was cute house overload, everywhere you looked were the most darling shingled-style homes. I told Chris, this is like Pinterest, in real life!

I have a lot to catch up on and have to run to pick up Gertie from the dog-sitter, so I'm just going to leave you with these teaser photos I took on Cape Code in Chatham.

Chatham...talk about THE perfect place to spend my birthday!! *sigh*

Wedding Photos Galore!!

First of all, my apologies for soooo many photos (and not one turquoise house!!) We had over 1,300 photos from our incredible photographer Spencer Combs, so it was really hard to whittle it down to this many! I love them all!

So now on to the details: The turquoise bridesmaids dresses, flower girl dresses, and my wedding gown were all made by Diana Winget Olson, my talented dressmaker step-mother. It was so much fun designing them and picking out fabric! I loved every twirl-worthy second in mine!! The world's most awesome makeup artist Brett Dorrian was responsible for all of our hair and makeup. She is just the greatest, really went above and beyond for me that day. I know you're all in love with the peonies...aren't they breathtaking?? All of the floral arrangements were done by Ashley Fox Designs, the most helpful and talented (and sweetest) vendor we worked with. My good friend Nikki of Lovely Scribbles did the dazzling calligraphy for the place cards (as well as our invitations, bless her heart!) They were pieces of art! Oooh and I loved the way the table numbers turned out, created by Harmony Design on Etsy. My friend Kim Yeager of Lark Nest Design came up with the pom-pom idea, and helped us hang them all up! They were so fun and everyone loved them. My beautiful pearl necklace and earrings were designed by Jen of JWP Jewelry Designs and birdcage veil by Ann Leslie Designs. Wish I could wear them every day!! The service was held at Lakewood Memorial Chapel (did you see all the mosaic?!? Jaw-dropping.) in Minneapolis. We were lucky to have Pastor Diane Roth come in to officiate the service from my family's long-time church...so very special for us! And lastly, we chose classical guitarist Joel Shapira to play all of the music for the service, which was such a treat of its own! And oh boy, how could I almost forget this?! Chris spent HOURS finding the perfect socks and turquoise ties for the guys. We Love Colors and Savvi Formalwear ended up having exactly what we wanted!

Our reception was so fun!! It was held on the banks of Mississippi River across from downtown Minneapolis at the Saint Anthony Main Event Centre, which used to be an old mattress factory. Chris and I loved the exposed bricks, all the big windows and exposed beams. Our awesome DJ, Nate from Instant Request, brought in turquoise mood lighting which really made a big impact (for not a lot of money...we liked that!) The event was catered by 3 Sons Signature Cuisine and seriously, they had the best food ever in addition to first-class service...I still hear about it from so many people. They baked that glorious cake as well (it was super yummy too!) and Ashley decorated it with her flowers. I wish I could have it sitting around my house because it was one of my favorite things about the wedding. See how the pleating on it kind of matches my dress?? Love that! Oh and my adorable robe, I LOVE that robe and still wear it all the time...it is by Plum Pretty Sugar. And I can't forget those stellar shoes by Steve Madden (that I only only managed to wear until dinner).

Phew! I hope that didn't bore you to tears! Our wedding day was honestly the best, most happiest day of my life, and I think the photos really reflect the energy and love Chris and I felt. The last two months have been so great, I just love being married to him. I couldn't be happier! Oh wait, our new puppy is almost house-trained! Ha!

And with that, I hope you all have a wonderful SUMMER weekend!!! Enjoy it!

Dreamy Hallway and Fun News!!!

It was instant love when I spotted this hall designed by Celerie Kemble over at theLENNOXX! Linda's post might have been all about shadow box molding, but it was the gorgeous wallcovering that really grabbed my attention. Ok really, to be honest, it was the adorable pup. Look at him just staring up at us....can you handle it?!

Well I can't. And Chris can't either. Because this weekend we happened to bring home our very own new little bulldog!! We've been thinking of names for a week, and yesterday after having her around for 24 hours it just hit us. She's Gertie (y'know, short for Gertrude). And she is just the sweetest little lady. I've never had a puppy before, so this is all very exciting! Now I just have to convince my cats....

Honeymoon Recap!

As promised, more honeymoon photos for you guys! It was truly an amazing two weeks. All along we knew we really wanted to spend two weeks by turquoise waters, so budget-wise Mexico was the best option for us. We did a lot of research and fell in love with two resorts. Being the indecisive people we are, we opted to spend one week at each! The first one, El Dorado Casitas Royale, was out-of-this-world. It was secluded and private, so green and lush, and most importantly...entirely romantic. We had a fabulous casita suite right by the beach with an incredible view. So many amenities, my favorite being the open-air, outdoor shower! We spent our days lounging on beach beds, being spoiled by the beach butlers, and playing in the ocean. The food here was fit for a king. It was all-inclusive, but all 7 restaurants were gourmet. It was seriously impressive (and seriously yummy!) We even had a private dinner on the beach our last night there! We did head out one day to go snorkeling off Maroma Beach, my first time snorkeling, which was super fun. (Although I couldn't get the Little Mermaid soundtrack out of my head the entire time!) And another day we toured the Mayan ruins at Tulum. Very fascinating stuff, but honestly the beach there (2nd & last pic above) was one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen...I wish you guys could have seen it!!

The second week we spent at Sun Palace. We chose this place primarily because of the beach. Another all-inclusive, adults only resort, but not quite as luxurious or private as the first. We loved the more modern, sleek vibe though, and the beach here was fantastic...soft white sand, crisp clear turquoise water. The view from our room made it seem like we were on a cruise ship. It was a dream! This place was cool too because they give you a big chunk of change for "resort credit" that you can use for all sorts of things. We took a trip to Chichen Itza with part of it, then had upgraded wine with the rest. (Not sure I'd be willing to spend $175 for a bottle of champagne otherwise!) The highlight of this week, maybe the whole two weeks, was the day we spent on Isla Mujeres. We took the ferry over and just walked around, poked in the shops and took photos. After almost passing out from being so stink'n hot, we rented a moped and just drove around the colorful little island. I took about a million photos, the buildings above were from here (and that one from the other day I already showed you). It was just so, so cool. We actually took over 1300 photos the entire trip, so I made a collage below with some non-turquoise highlights. I hope you enjoy! :)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!
