Plot 4328 Bernard Khoury

Plot 4328 by Bernard Khoury Architects:
“Plot 4328 is located in a 535 square meters parcel in Kfardebian, Mount Lebanon, on a steep topography with 10 meter drop between its road frontage and the lowest point on the site.
The south façade that connects the project to the access road is an inclined plateau that starts at ground level and slopes up seven meters in the northern direction. The inclined plateau acts as the roof and a street façade deployed on an oblique plane which steps up to an elevated pool at the northern tip of the slope. The sloping plane also leads the visitors up to the main entrances on mid-level located on the eastern and western edges of the roof.
The north façade is glazed from floor to ceiling on all three levels, open to long and narrow balconies overlooking spectacular views of the valley.
The Eastern and Western facades have limited openings that provide access to intermediate terraces that define the eastern and western edges of the property.
The two proposed units are organized on three split-levels with high ceilings reception spaces located on the upper level. The northern terraces of the project located at the lowest edge of the site are also accessible from the reception areas by making use of a mobile balcony that travels vertically on the façade.”

VK1 House Greg Wright

VK1 House by Greg Wright Architects:
“Conceived as the home for a young/trendy/elegant couple, this house is the perfect reflection of the client’s brief.
The main areas of the house are raised and located on the first floor in order to take advantage of the beautiful views towards the ocean, leaving the complementary areas on the ground floor, spinning around a central courtyard that not only provides light and ventilation but also a beautiful view from every room on that level.
A very elegant and modern palette of polished concrete floors, textured concrete, stainless steel, with touches of natural grey stone and dark glass have conform the canvas for a unique lifestyle. The lighting design accents the spirit of the house on every room and determines a specific mood for each occasion by washing the different surfaces and creating a very rich fest of textures and shades.”

Jigsaw Residence David Jameson

Jigsaw Residence by David Jameson Architect:
“Recycling a single story suburban house located on a busy corner site, the Jigsaw Residence introverts itself in a continuous spatial flow around an open air courtyard carved from the home’s remains. A matrix of spaces is linked by movement through them as storeys merge and spaces relate to each other as they rise and fall in a series of interlocked puzzle-like volumes giving a unique three dimensional framework to each space where plan and section respond to program simultaneously.
Fundamental to the conception of the house is the notion of reflectivity, rendering unclear the boundaries between inside and outside. Light and space are modulated by meshing ribbons of wall and glass that form a tessellation of solid and void. The conditioning of these internal and external walls is identical. Planes of stucco exterior walls transform into plaster interior walls while passing through glass. Clerestory glazing and window constructs are carefully sited to afford privacy to the occupants while framing and extending views through the site.”
