Day Three: Dream Home Tour

Up next in our week-long tour of my reader Cristi's home is her kitchen and breakfast area. I have been eating up every little inch of this space since I first laid eyes on it! Nothing is prettier than a white kitchen warmed up with beautiful hardwood flooring and colorful tiles. You may remember from yesterday that all the floor in the home was reclaimed from an old barn out east. Love that. Did you notice the closeup of the countertop? This company called Vetrazzo makes them out of recycled glass...you can even read words on some of the pieces. So much cooler than granite, don't you think??

The cabinets were all done by Benjamin Blackwelder, who actually made the kitchen so specifically to Cristi's height (she's only 5'0" tall) that the island was measured out by her standing on telephone books! The tile was all done by Greg's Tile Creations (you'll love what they did in the bathrooms too). Cristi and her designer Lindy Allen picked them out Contempo Tile.

What dream kitchen would be without its own perfect little breakfast nook?! Cristi and Jeff designed the area to be east-facing so it would get plenty of the morning sunlight. I just love those bold tufted chairs from 4-chairs.com! The "coco mirror" from West Elm is another one of Cristi's favorite things in the house - it's made out of bleached coconut shells!

Thanks to the homeowner Cristi and Jessi Safsten of Hiya Papaya for all these gorgeous images! I'll be back tomorrow with some really cool and super fun spaces from this home!

Edit: Here is source info as requested!
  • Wallpaper on nook ceiling is Thibaut Parkland in Beige from Natural Resource
  • Three bubbles light fixture above the sink is from Lamps Plus
  • Three pendants fixture over dining table is from Lamps Plus
  • Fabric on window treatments is from DwellStudio via The Shade Store
  • -windows in the nook are done in Pyramid Jade
  • -door treatment is done in vintage Plumes Jade
  • The exact color of the Vetrazzo recycled glass countertops is Glass House
  • Over-the-island schoolhouse pendants can be found at Bellacor (Thanks Kincaids!)

Premier Design in Charleston

I'm back from vacation with this tasty treat designed by Renee Reichlyn of Premier Design and featured in the current issue of Charleston Home + Design Magazine. Who doesn't adore a burst of blue subway tile?! I love the spin on these particular tiles though, with their longer, leaner shape. Did you notice there are two islands here? (I didn't right away, I was too mesmerized by the tile!) I'm loving all the drawers...you can never have too many drawers. Read all about the space and see more images here!

Our trip to Chicago was incredible. Of course the heat was insane, but that didn't stop us from walking around all day taking everything in. Thanks so much for the suggestions! You guys who mentioned Garrett popcorn...bless your hearts. Our hotel happened to be conveniently located right next to one! ;) Lots of tours, shopping, dining (and more dining) and sleeping in. And to top it all off, the Ray LaMontagne concert was better than we hoped it would be! I can't believe it's the weekend already...gotta love that! Enjoy it everyone!

Alexandra Angle

It's no secret I'm such a fan of Swedish interiors, which is why I was immediately drawn to this home designed by Alexandra Angle and photographed by Victoria Pearson! Located in Venice, California and featured in House Beautiful, the light, bright and cheery home is filled with so many fresh, springy colors. I feel renewed just looking at them! I'm especially loving that last cozy reading nook...the mix of colors and patterns is perfect! To read all about this happy home and for more pics, head here!

Retro Swedish Kitchen

After being submersed in turquoise and pink the last few months (our wedding colors), it sure is nice to revisit my first love: turquoise and red. There's no better place to sport this cheery combo than in a vintage-inspired kitchen. I've always thought a checkerboard floor would be so fun! How cool is that old vending machine?? I love that this kitchen is in Sweden too, not America as you would first think. See the rest of this home over on Hus & Hem!

Shine by S.H.O. & Giveaway Winner!

How much love can I shine on this home belonging to Susan Hornbeak-Ortiz, owner of Shine by S.H.O.?! I've seen pieces from her fabulous collection before (the most glorious turquoise sofa comes to mind immediately), so it was really fun to see her home featured over on Delight by Design. Its perfectly neutral palette acts as a canvas on which the designer can explore and grow. Susan actually uses her home as her laboratory...for how her designs look, and with four kids, how functional they are and how well they wear. Many of the fab pieces you see here can actually be bought through her store here. And you can read her inspiring story and see more photos over at Angeleno Interiors!

Now it's time to announce the lucky winner of the La Posh Style dress giveaway!

Congrats my dear! And to everyone else, have a wonderful spring weekend! :)

Urban Grace Interiors

What a fantastic kitchen! Designed by Erika Powell of Urban Grace Interiors, I think it's the symmetry here that is really appealing to me. Not only gorgeous, the room is so versatile and family friendly too. I love that it's its own space, yet connected to the other rooms with the windows. In case you haven't been stalking Erika's blog for years like me, definitely check it out here, and see more of her work on her website!

Sukkertøy for øyet

Do you ever discover a blog that immediately casts a spell on you?? Where you know it's going to be long night because if you don't get through the entire archive you won't be able to sleep?? That's how I felt when I laid my eyes on the dreamy home of Ida and her blog Sukkertøy for øyet. I didn't need Google Translate to tell me that meant "Candy for the Eye" in Norwegian. And candy it IS. Seriously. How entirely yummy are these images??? This barely skims this surface people. Go see for yourselves here!

Peter Carlsson

I've so been itching to dig around the web for some delicious eye candy!! This Swedish home tour photographed by Peter Carlsson was a real treat...I knew I could count on Hus & Hem! The adorable home built in 1901 was in such great shape when the current owners moved in. Imagine a house that old where the floor, moldings and window frames were all in mint condition! You have to see the rest of the house, including some super cute, colorful kids rooms...so head here!
