Shine by S.H.O. & Giveaway Winner!

How much love can I shine on this home belonging to Susan Hornbeak-Ortiz, owner of Shine by S.H.O.?! I've seen pieces from her fabulous collection before (the most glorious turquoise sofa comes to mind immediately), so it was really fun to see her home featured over on Delight by Design. Its perfectly neutral palette acts as a canvas on which the designer can explore and grow. Susan actually uses her home as her laboratory...for how her designs look, and with four kids, how functional they are and how well they wear. I've shared this heavenly bathroom designed by Candice Olson before, but when I discovered the corresponding bedroom in the portfolio of Toront0-based Brandon Barré I was delighted! What a beautiful, cozy cove! It would be such a luxury to have a wall like that, opening up to a private deck. Then to have such an amazing bathroom in the other direction?! Dream space!!!

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Today's room from Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and photographed by Emily Minton Redfield, is dedicated to my handsome fiancé who is celebrating his birthday!! In a perfect world, my rugged outdoorsman would live in the mountains as a hikemaster, residing (with moi, of course) in light-filled contemporary digs. This Aspen home designed Barbara Mullen of Caroline-Edwards Interior Design would be right up his alley. He's more neutral-happy than I am but readily admits to loving the turquoise. In fact I know he'd love those George Smith chairs...he's got a major thing for tufted furniture. But undoubtedly it's the view and the proximity of a scenic hike that would have him at hello! Sunny Yellow Cottage

Sunshine and summertime today, courtesy of Cottage Life magazine! This tiny cabin located near Sault Ste Marie, Michigan couldn't be any cuter. The owner selected a yellow and green palette to reflect the summer light and fill the rooms with warmth, and used turquoise as the perfect accent. I loved her tip for decorating on a budget: You have to be patient. She has been collecting those cute turquoise striped Carrigaline dishes from Cork, Ireland for more than 10 years...and never pays more than $1 for each one. That's the way I like it!
