Much more versatile than you may think, blue is truly a classic color. It has universal appeal, never goes out of style, and is overwhelmingly chosen as a color favorite across North America. It evokes the sea and sky, physically calms us, and symbolizes trust and commitment.

Because of the influence that blue has in our world today, we have chosen Wythe Blue (HC-143) as Benjamin Moore's 2012 Color of the Year. It's a beautiful, calming hue that has an element of heritage and offers grounding rootedness, providing comfort and stability.

Lets hear it for Wythe Blue! I've long loved the color (see my other post here) and I know that a lot of you have used it (and love it!) in your own homes, so I was excited to read the news from the paint experts over at Hirshfield's Color Club. They shared the 2012 trend colors in a bunch of great room sets...it's crazy how much paint can change the look of a room! Needless to say, I couldn't agree more with Benjamin Moore's choice for Color of the Year. I am also loving their inspiring Earth & Sky color palette that incorporates the color so beautifully! Nicola Manganello

I absolutely adore this fresh country kitchen designed by Nicola Manganello of Nicola’s Homes! The butter-yellow cabinetry and exposed ceiling beams make it feel so cozy, not to mention the blue sky overhead! I love how the island incorporates the bench seat, such great use of space. And I can't get over the fab chandelier and range hood! The bedroom is just as cozy...love the peaceful palette and comfy furnishings! The shower is pretty sweet too! Seriously, much to love! Interior Philosophy

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this Watercolor, Florida vacation home photographed by Brian Bieder belonging to Mandy Mayers. Together with Jessica Roan, her friend and business partner in their Atlanta home furnishings shop, Interior Philosophy, the pair lifted colors from the surrounding coastal area when designing the space. It's beachy, but not in the conventional way we're used to seeing on here. Normally I like a lot of color, but there's so much depth here from the mix of textures combined with all the layers of natural elements. Hazardous Design

I feel like we never see enough of Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon in China Blue. Here is it, downright breathtaking in this gorgeous powder room belonging to Carrie and Chris of the blog Hazardous Design. They are in the process of renovating their 1886 New England home on Hazard Ave one room at a time. Since they moved in one year ago, they have tackled some big projects and have been detailing them all on their blog. It's super inspiring! You have to see this post for the before pics on this bathroom. You'll see just how far the space has come and love it THAT much more!

Cool & Colorful Sunroom

There are loads of fresh ideas in this colorful sunroom from BHG! The pretty aqua blue vaulted ceiling is the obvious darling here...I would stare off at it all day if it were in my home. I've never been a fan of wicker furniture, but it's perfect here. I especially love the rockers! The cushioned bench in the back with all that great storage, the layered orange rugs on that cute checkered floor, and the cheery roller shades (I just love those!)...it all looks so effortlessly stylish!

Florida Beach House

I wonder how many homes out there were inspired by the movie Something's Gotta Give. I mean, who doesn't love that kitchen?! Well the owner of this beautiful beach home in Grayton Beach, Florida photographed by Colleen Duffley said the movie definitely inspired their new home, the kitchen and its adjoining great room in particular. I am really digging their interpretation. As much as I love white painted trim, it's refreshing to see some wood! Tour the rest of the home (including a super fun bunk room) over at Traditional Home. Kathleen Hay Designs

I just love me a quaint and cozy cottage. This two-room cabin in Nantucket photographed by Michael Partenio is surely one of the cutest I've ever come across. Designed by Kathleen Hay, the renovated space features pickled white oak floors and white horizontal paneling on the walls. I know I'm hearing three cheers for the pale seaglass-blue ceiling and the turquoise sand-blasted glass countertop though! What a dream! You guys have to head to New England Home because Kathleen actually designed the main home on property too and it's just as lovely as this!
