Day Five: Dream Home Tour

I'm so sad this tour is coming to an end! A million thank you's to Cristi and Jeff for welcoming us all into their amazing home! I hope you thoroughly enjoyed it as much as I did, and that our final day today left you with a ton of inspiration. I'm totally smitten with the master bedroom in their home. Doesn't it exude such a calming retreat-like vibe?? I love that they went with the grasscloth wallcovering from Thibaut...the texture and color is perfection. The sliding barn door is super cute too! And HELLO, dream bath alert! Did you see all that glorious tile?! We can thank the talented guys over at Greg's Tile Creations for that eye candy. It looks fantastic with the wallpaper (Coral Gables from Thibaut). I really love the layout of this space, the corner vanity is so cool, and the open shower like that. I'd never manage to get ready in the mornings with all this beauty to stare off at!

Next we have their upstairs hallway. I've never seen a more lovelier window seat! I love Cristi's display cabinet here...almost everything you see was passed down from her mom. Love the wallpaper in this area too...Thibaut of course (Roma in White on Pearl). She has even more sentimental stuff displayed in that gorgeous laundry room, in addition to more beautiful cabinetry work done by Benjamin Blackwelder (painted BM Palladian Blue...so pretty). I love that the flower panels are doors that are covering the circuit switches. Cute touch!

Lastly in this week-long tour is the breezy family room. This looks like the place the family kicks back and relaxes. Did you see that fan?! Coolest thing ever! I've been crazy about that Tiffany Peacock rug forever! Seriously this home has some brilliant, colorful rugs, doesn't it?!

Day Three: Dream Home Tour

Up next in our week-long tour of my reader Cristi's home is her kitchen and breakfast area. I have been eating up every little inch of this space since I first laid eyes on it! Nothing is prettier than a white kitchen warmed up with beautiful hardwood flooring and colorful tiles. You may remember from yesterday that all the floor in the home was reclaimed from an old barn out east. Love that. Did you notice the closeup of the countertop? This company called Vetrazzo makes them out of recycled glass...you can even read words on some of the pieces. So much cooler than granite, don't you think??

The cabinets were all done by Benjamin Blackwelder, who actually made the kitchen so specifically to Cristi's height (she's only 5'0" tall) that the island was measured out by her standing on telephone books! The tile was all done by Greg's Tile Creations (you'll love what they did in the bathrooms too). Cristi and her designer Lindy Allen picked them out Contempo Tile.

What dream kitchen would be without its own perfect little breakfast nook?! Cristi and Jeff designed the area to be east-facing so it would get plenty of the morning sunlight. I just love those bold tufted chairs from 4-chairs.com! The "coco mirror" from West Elm is another one of Cristi's favorite things in the house - it's made out of bleached coconut shells!

Kathryn Chaplow

A ton of new snow was just dumped on Minnesota, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming about summer! I'd love to have a lake home just like this Lake Michigan cottage designed by Kathryn Chaplow. Actually I'd love to just have a home like this one, it really doesn't even need to be by a lake! That serene bedroom is a slice of heaven! Love the aqua, the ceilings, the little nook...all so pretty. What about the porch...how fun is that red animal print?! And did you notice the blue and green fabric on the pillow on the sofa in the living room? It looks a lot like the fabric from yesterday's nursery! We gotta figure out what that is, I love it! I really enjoyed reading the interview Cristin of Simplified Bee did with San Francisco interior designer Kendall Wilkinson. It was actually a turquoise showhouse room she designed that fueled my inspiration to start this blog so long ago...I'd never seen anything like it before! Since then I've continued to be impressed with her work. Her rooms are all so beautiful and glamorous, but never stuffy. I'm also a tremendous fan of her use of color.
