Julia Doyle

Oh how I wish I could spend a summer on the New England coast!! Located in the first Colonial settlement on Martha’s Vineyard, this sunny home photographed by Michael Partenio might appear to have been around for ages. But nope, this lovely is entirely new...except for a tiny part in the front. The architectural firm Brooks & Falotico (remember them from this home we all loved??) and Rosbeck Builders worked with interior designer Julia Doyle to keep the home historically authentic, but also comfortable and fun...this is a vacation home after all! I love the burst of color from unexpected places, like the kitchen counters and glass tile around the fireplace. And the window seat is just the cutest thing ever! Read all about this home and see more great images over at New England Home!

Day Two: Dream Home Tour

And the tour continues...mouths agape for sure! For me the most striking thing about Cristi's home is the flooring. Absolutely beyond beautiful. It is actually a reclaimed oak that the couple got from a barn back on the east coast. The brick floor in the mudroom is also reclaimed, found by the builder Hatfield Homes. I'm sure you all noticed the colorful barn wood on the wall in the world's most adorable mudroom...yeah, that wood came from the farm Cristi grew up on in Idaho. Being a super sentimental person, that's one her favorite things in the whole house. I would LOVE to do that with the barn wood from my grandparent's farm...how special!

The living room is just something else. I adore the serene color palette, the mix of patterns going on and the subtle nod to the coast. And how incredible is the piano room?! That floor!!! The ceiling is so cool too. It was actually done by their cabinet guy, Benjamin Blackwelder. Just wait until tomorrow when you see the eye candy he cooked up in the kitchen!

If you missed out on Day One of the tour, check it out here! Like yesterday, these beautiful interior photos were taken by the homeowner Cristi and Jessi Safsten...you can see more of their photography at Hiya Papaya! A lot of the furnishings you see came from designer Lindy Allen and her store Four Chairs Furniture. But if you have any questions about anything, just ask!

Day One: Dream Home Tour

I'm beyond excited to share this spectacular home with you guys. Believe it or not, this space actually belongs to one of my readers. After years of saving design ideas in a folder, Cristi and her husband Jeff recently completed building their dream home in Lindon, Utah. They knew exactly what kind of home they wanted: light, beachy and airy. The couple has ties to Hawaii and wanted to incorporate that feel into their new home. And two years ago they took a trip out to the Hamptons (they won the trip on Price is Right! ha!) and fell in love with the homes out there. (There should really be a support group for us!) When it came time to finally build their new home, their aim was to fuse the Hawaiian beachy feel with the Hamptons waterfront classic architecture and design. I'm loving the results!

Their dream home took them a year and a half to complete from the design and concept stage to the certificate of occupancy. They selected award-winning Morgan Hatfield of Hatfield Homes to bring their vision to life. Cristi's husband Jeff actually did quite a bit of the architectural design while Cristi worked very closely with another award-winner, talented interior designer Lindy Allen of Four Chairs Furniture. She was able to perfectly implement all of those fabulous ideas Cristi had been saving for so long. (In fact, it's an honor to know a lot of her inspiration actually came from reading House of Turquoise!) Building their new home was a labor of love for them and it truly is "their baby"!

Cristi may not be a designer, but it should come as no surprise that she does indeed have an artistic background. She's not only musical, but is also a photographer by profession. (She and Jessi Safsten took all these amazing images above!) Check out their website here...what talent! Cristi also has a really fun and colorful Etsy shop where she sells cute recycled accessories and her beautiful prints.

Seriously, I'm madly in love with this home and Cristi's photographs that capture it so beautifully. Pretty sure if I was going to build my dream home it would look exactly like this. All week I'm going to be taking you on a tour of their entire home, so come back tomorrow to continue on! I can't wait for you guys to see more of it...I guarantee you'll love it all!

If you have any questions at all about anything you see, please don't hesitate to ask away! Cristi is a real sweetheart and is more than willing to share! :)

BHDM Design

This Westfield, NJ home designed by New York-based duo Brian Humphrey and Dan Mazzarini of BHDM Design is all about the sun and the sand!!! I wouldn't mind kickin' my feet up and spending my summer here that's for sure. I think my favorite is that first image of the mudroom...I love that corner bench and split door! Not to mention the perfectly aqua-hued walls! See more of the home and other very cool interiors over at the BHDM website!

Dreamy Hallway and Fun News!!!

It was instant love when I spotted this hall designed by Celerie Kemble over at theLENNOXX! Linda's post might have been all about shadow box molding, but it was the gorgeous wallcovering that really grabbed my attention. Ok really, to be honest, it was the adorable pup. Look at him just staring up at us....can you handle it?!

Well I can't. And Chris can't either. Because this weekend we happened to bring home our very own new little bulldog!! We've been thinking of names for a week, and yesterday after having her around for 24 hours it just hit us. She's Gertie (y'know, short for Gertrude). And she is just the sweetest little lady. I've never had a puppy before, so this is all very exciting! Now I just have to convince my cats....

Julia's Posh Living Room

I'm so excited to share with you this living room designed and photographed by my uber-talented reader Julia Ryan of Pawleys Island Posh. Not only is she one incredible photographer, but she also decorated this breathtaking space! I know you're all dying to know what paint color she used...Sherwin Williams SW 6477 Tidewater. So beautiful. I recognized those adorable slipper chairs covered in Thomas Paul's Aviary Birds fabric right away, as they've been on my wish list for a very long time. (Did you know you can get them at Target?!) I love that she added the zebra print in to spice things up. Definitely visit Julia's blog for more (including the always fun before'n'afters)!!

Can you believe it's now only FIVE weeks until the big day?! I'm so fortunate to be having yet another shower this Sunday! I'm actually making a quick unplanned trip to St Louis here in a few hours, so keep your fingers crossed I make it back in time! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)
